I know it’s Wednesday and normally i post this blog on Monday’s, but I was lazy Monday so I decided to post it today! Is that cool? GOOD!
Anyways, This music Monday is all about a band called “Mute Math”. Mute Math is an experimental/alternative rock band who’s rhythms and progressions are genius, and their melodies honestly remind me of the Newsboys, it’s kinda weird that i compare the two but the first time i heard them i thought of the Newsboys. A few months ago i saw them live at the house of blues here in Orlando, and i promise you, I’ve seen some energetic shows before, but never anything like this. It’s one thing to be energetic and crazy, but on top of being these things they are extremely tight and creative with their music and lyrics. Each show starts out with the drummer walking out, putting on his studio sized headphones, and duct taping them around his head so they won’t fall off during his insane live performance. But the drummer isn’t the only one that rocks out, each one of them goes crazy and their sound remains tight and on key. If they come within 500 miles of where you live you should definitely go. It was one of the best shows i have ever been to.
The only slightly negative thing i can say about this band is that i don’t love to listen to their music in my car. Some bands are just better live, and i think mute math is one of them.
I basically agree 100% on that. I hadn’t heard of them, just walked into the St.Pete Times Forum and they we’re on the stage, my friend and I just sat there completely awe-struck by this band. They reminded me of U2 at first though, which is odd because I don’t like U2. But like you said, thier performance is just insane. Literally my friend and i just kept looking at each other like ‘is this for real?’. We didn’t find out there name til the main band came out and thanked em for opening. I scribbled it down and checked em out online later. I agree thier better live but they are definitely one of the best I’ve seen live, ever.
