Oh yeah, it’s really happening on monday!!!
Ok, this music monday is all about an artist named Pete Yorn. I have to be honest, I thought that, to me, Pete Yorn was going to be a fad, something i would just listen to while it was cool then throw it away. I started listening to him about 8 or 9 years ago and I thought it was sweet, but i mainly started listening to him because everyone else was. I wasn’t super into his music, but i kept on listening to it. I remember jamming his cd “musicforthemorningafter” all summer one year.. hanging by the pool, cruising with the windows down, on the boat at the lake… ect. For some reason that summer just didn’t feel right if ole’ Pete wasn’t jammin in the stereo.
Recently, i posted about this a few weeks ago, i discovered that i was listening to the same artist way too often and needed to broaden my musical interests. So I decided to put my ipod on shuffle. I know it doesn’t seem like that would broaden my musical interests that much, but i only listen to about 10% of the stuff that is on there, so it is a step. Anyway, I skipped through a lot of stuff, but anytime a Pete Yorn song came on I wouldn’t skip it. I still remembered all the words and could remember what i was doing while listening to this stuff. Maybe my opinion is flawed because of this but I really like his stuff. I believe that “musicforthemorningafter” is his best cd by far, and I definitely think you should check it out.
Pete plays all the instruments on the cd himself, he writes and produces most of it as well. He is a very talented dude! I love how catchy the melodies are and how original his sound is. Its kinda folk rock/indie/rock/with a slight hint of country. I love it. check out the video below.
Two posts in one day…impressive!
