Josh talks politics (What!?! Never thought i’d hear that!!!)

Honestly, I’m not that in to politics, but with the hype of this 2008 presidential election I find it hard not to be. I’ve have found myself lately enjoying a good conversation about politics, as long as it is over coffee. Take away the coffee and this conversation is over! :)

But I am blogging on politics today not to give you my political views on who I think you should vote for in this election, but to share with you a very compelling and inspiring article I read in Relevant Magazine. It is an article intitled “Leading the Charge” and was written by Cameron Strang. I very much encourage you to grab the latest Relevant magazine and read this article, it is located on page 6. You won’t get the full impact of this article without reading the whole thing, but here are some highlights from it.

I’ve heard it said that only 5 percent of people who attend church regularly actually serve in any way. I’ve read that if every Christian in America actually tithed 10 percent of their income, we would have enough financial resources to wipe out global poverty.

There’s more power lying in pews around the nation than any government could hope to provide, and that’s where our focus should be.

I’m not saying don’t vote. Do. Vote your convictions and let your voice be heard… But don’t let your politics breed division, or make you see people in a different light.

If you have a passion for an issue, rather than judging someone who doesn’t share that passion or view point, just do something about it. Give your life to it. Be the change you want to see.

It’s not up to Washington, it’s up to us-and I say it’s time we step up and lead the charge. But that means with our lives, our finances, and our actions every day. Not just Nov. 4th.

Thoughts from camp Kulaqua

Its been a long day!

It started at 5:15am this morning as I got out of bed (after staying up late to watch football and practice songs), I arrive at the theaters on Sundays at 6 am along with the worlds greatest volunteers to set up for our C3 church sunday mornings in the theaters. (we seriously have the greatest volunteers at C3, I mean these guys really work hard every week)

After church we went to lazy moon (home of the worlds biggest slices of pizza)

Then I went home to pack, and as soon as I was done my ride showed up and we left for camp kulaqua, which is located slightly north of Gainesville, fl.

I am leading worship for the middle schoolers out of a school called foundation academy. I will be here until tomorrow afternoon.

These kids are really cool! :)

But at a Christian school it is very easy to have knowledge about God but never really know Him. Tonight as Eric Ball spoke one phrase he said stood out more than anything else. Information without application leads to pride. We see this all over the place, and I believe this is why Christians have gotten a bad rep. So many church leaders fill up on knowledge of scripture and study Greek and Hebrew origins of the bible and forget about what matters most… Reality!

I believe whole heartedly that the bible is God breathed and that God speaks to us through it. I believe it should be studied and memorized. But I also believe that there are people who know the bible backwards and forwards that don’t have a relationship with God and aren’t living out what they read.

Reality is that we have a Heavenly Father that is stinkin in love with us. He gave us this book so that we can have a light in this darkness that we live in. We should read His word with a desire to know Him more. Not so that we can seem superior in spiritual conversation.

Thats what God has been showing me and I thought I would let you know mr. or mrs. blog reader. So.. thanks for listening.

Its 1100pm and I’m going to bed now, like i said… Its been a long day! :)
