I listen to soooo much music and here’s how it normally works with me. If I really like an album from the start it gets old really quickly, but if I like it ok at the beginning but something about it keeps me listening to it, then I eventually love the album.

I first heard about Pete Yorn in 10th or 11th grade, which would be around the year 2000 to 2001, and literally from the first time I heard his album “Musicforthemorningafter” I loved it! I probably listened to it 1000 times that summer, and ever since then when I am scanning through my ipod and see Pete Yorn, I still want to listen to that album. It never gets old!

Amazing day yesterday at C3 Church! I just love worshiping with you guys every week! I was overwhelmed yesterday by what an honor it is that God has called me to lead here! I love seeing you guys each week and the excitement that you have for this movement called C3! Continue to invite and God will continue to change lives!

So this past Saturday I did my first sprint triathlon. It was such an incredible experience and I am definitely doing it again, but in mentally preparing that morning I had to convince myself that I was physically and mentally prepared to own this tri! Now of course I did quite a bit of training before that morning, but I still had to get mentally focused and prepared for the extreme activity I was about to embark on. I remember as we walked down to the beach to begin the race we walked passed the finish line, and I took a mental snapshot of it so that I could have it fresh on my mind when I felt like quitting. As we reached the beach and walked down to the waters edge the adrenaline kicked into high gear and it was on! Just before each group began the spectators and those waiting for their group to begin would cheer loudly for those about to start. The beach was electric! Then the race began. I remember during certain points in the race getting a bit winded and I would want to stop, but then someone would cheer or encourage me to continue and I would envision the finish line, the goal, and press through all the pain to get there.

¹Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. ²Let us fix our eyes on Jesus.  Hebrews 12:1-2b

I read this verse this morning and it totally reminded me of the triathlon. Here are a few things God showed me this am:

1. Each day is a race: I wouldn’t just jump out of bed, throw on my cloths, and run a triathlon. I would first take the time to warm-up and get mentally prepared and focused. In the same way at the start of each day I should take the time to “fix my eyes on Jesus” through allowing him to speak to me through his word and just meeting with him.

2. Run with perseverance: When I face those tough situations each day and I feel like quitting that I will remember what Christ endured for me, and that I am surround by a great crowd of witnesses.

3. Have a mental snapshot of the finish line: As a Christian, my finish line is HEAVEN! That is where I am headed on this race. So often I get wrapped up in what is temporary instead of what is eternal. With a Heaven mindset I should be an unstoppable force for Christ.

4. Sin can only hinder what you are trying to accomplish: “Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles”. Sin will mess you up!! THROW IT OFF! TURN AWAY!! GET THAT CRAP OUT OF YOUR LIFE, YOU DON’T HAVE TIME FOR IT! It only hinders and entangles us in running this race for Christ.

Today I was riding my road bike, and about half way through my bike started to feel a little funny… something was definitely wrong. I looked down and sure enough, it was a flat. I freakin hate when this happens! First of all, it takes about 10 minutes or so to change the tube out, second, now I have to buy a new tube when I get back to the house so the next time I get a flat I don’t get stranded, and third its so hot out and I really don’t want to do this now!!! So I start to get out my spare tube and my pump and as I start the repair a couple young guys ride up on their bikes and ask if everything is alright and if I need some help. I tell them I really appreciate them stopping but I got it. Then again a few minutes later this happens again with a few other guys, then again with even more. Every single person that passed by stopped and offered help and wanted to make sure that I was alright. They didn’t know me, they just saw that I was in need of help and they stopped by to offer it.

I know that there is a strong possibility that all of the people that stopped are not Christians. Which posses the question: Do non-Christians act more Christlike than Christians?

Sometimes as Christians we lose focus and forget our mission. We are called to love!

The whole point of what we’re urging is simply love—love uncontaminated by self-interest and counterfeit faith, a life open to God. Those who fail to keep to this point soon wander off into cul-de-sacs of gossip. They set themselves up as experts on religious issues, but haven’t the remotest idea of what they’re holding forth with such imposing eloquence. 1 timothy 1:5-7 (msg)
